I use a variety of evidence-based techniques, including humanistic, integrative and mindfulness practices, to help clients overcome negative thought patterns and behaviours. I believe in a holistic approach to mental health and explore the 'patterns & patchwork' of life in both the mind and body.
I am dedicated to providing compassionate counselling to individuals, couples and families. I help empower clients to make sense of their world, by gently and empathetically evaluating their issues, concerns and stresses, with a view to positive change and outcome.
I am a professionally trained, qualified and experienced Psychotherapist Counsellor. I specialise in a variety of areas, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and relationship issues. I aim to provide meticulous personalised care to all my clients. I am committed to ongoing training and education in order to stay up-to-date with the latest research and techniques.
I offer warm, nurturing and empathetic Couples & Relationship Therapy to help evaluate issues and talk through personal worries and concerns in a timely respectful and confidential manner. Together we may explore your thoughts and feelings to gain insight and understanding into certain behaviours, needs and wants, thereby bringing about desired outcomes and positive change.
I offer one session (single session) where we focus on your immediate issue or concern and look to address it directly in a safe and compassionately supportive enviroment. This type of session can be incredibly beneficial for crisis issues or time-related problems (when a client feels stuck and unable to think effectively and/or proactively given the current events/situation).
I can support with the effects of traumatic events past & present. I can help promote healing from the psychological impact of trauma and abuse, including PTSD, anxiety, eating disorders and depression. I provide a safe and supportive environment where we can explore your experiences, life events and develop strategies to gently move forward so you can feel more empowered.
I offer a non-judgemental space to listen and support clients . You may be experiencing feelings of loneiness, have family issues or relationship concerns, find it hard to talk, feel ashamed, embarrassed, guilty, sad, overwhelmed, angry, frustrated.. whatever you would like help with, togther we can address it together in a warm, caring and confidential manner.
I offer grief and bereavement counselling to help cope with the loss of a loved one, a situation, a pet, life event or a diagnosis. I provide a safe nurturing environment to explore the narrative of your grief, love and compassion. Together, we can develop strategies to help you manage this loss and help you move forward for a more balanced 'real' and positive outcome.
I have practice rooms in Petersfield and Midhurst and offer daytime and evening sessions. I accommodate all types of Counselling. Clients can decide to mix and match with other types of session therapy if they choose.
I offer online sessions via Zoom, Teams and Skype during the daytime or evening. These sessions can be taken as a block or in conjunction with other types of sessions depending on work, illness, holiday or work commitments. I am flexible and adaptable.
I offer Walk&Talk sessions during the daytime in Midhurst, Petworth, Petersfield, Haslemere and surrounds. A Walk&Talk session is ideal for clients who enjoy nature and feel comfortable walking. Well behaved dogs are most welcome!
I have complex PTSD, anxiety, and depression. I have been seeing Debbie for 6/7years now. Sounds a long time! But once you've found the right counsellor, you don't want to lose them!
Debbie is very kind and caring in nature, and humorous especially at times I need it. Our relationship is professional, but it feels like going to talk to a friend.
I couldn't recommend someone to trust and counsel more than Debbie.
Debbie has been a lifeline during some of the hardest and most overwhelming moments of my life. Her warmth, empathy, and deep intuition make her an extraordinary support—she often knows exactly what I need, even when I can’t articulate it myself. She creates a safe, nurturing space where I feel truly heard and understood. Her insights and practical guidance have helped me not only navigate incredibly challenging times but also begin to rediscover life and strength in ways I never thought possible. Debbie’s care and expertise have been transformative, and I’m endlessly grateful for her.

A conflict of Interest is when there is a personal connection between a client and Deborah. This means professionally Deborah can only see someone who has no personal connection to her or her family. If a friend or colleague is in need of counselling, Deborah would need to recommend a fellow colleague.
If a friend or colleague has a friend who wants counselling, this adheres to the ethical guidelines set out by Deborah's counselling association N.C.P.S. so Deborah is able to offer ethical counselling.
Deborah can not see exisiting client's family or friends due to a potential cross-over in narrative but once say a client has ended then seeing a friend of this client would be deemed ethical. Deborah is happy to discuss the above further on a one-to-one basis.
Every professionally qualified Counsellor is encouraged to belong to an Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy for best practice and ethical guidelines This means the public can be assured of their qualifications, training and competency. Deborah is a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) Deborah has an 'M' along with NCPS which denotes being a member. (Accred) means Deborah is an 'Accredited member' of NCPS
Deborah began her counselling training journey over 15years ago but as life happens, had to take a sabbactical for personal reasons. Deborah qualified in 2016/2017 and set-up her private practice soon after.
Jacaranda Life Counselling (Jacaranda Life Ltd) was formed in 2017 by Deborah Parker. Deborah set-up her counselling business to provide a bespoke private practice service offering counselling to Individuals, Organisations and the Charity sector.
Jacaranda Life Counselling is based in West Sussex, UK and has practice rooms in Petersfield, Hampshire and Midhurst, West Sussex. Due to the nature of online counselling, Deborah works within the UK time zone but can offer appointments worldwide. This can be particularly benefical for those who are infirm, away on holiday/work or unable to travel due to a number of reasons/circumstances.
Counselling describes helping support a client to overcome issues in the short-term whereas Psychotherapy involves deeper work over a longer period of time. Within industry, 6-8+ therapy sessions would denote longer-term psychotherapy.
